Perceived Impact of FishCORAL-Related Coastal Resource Management Interventions in Ragay, Camarines Sur, Philippines

The paper presents the assessment study aimed to (a) determine level of awareness fishers on Coastal Resource Management initiatives FishCORAL project in Ragay, Camarines Sur, (b) document knowledge, attitudes, and practices coastal resources management (hereafter referred as ‘CRM’), (c) identify perceived socio-economic ecological impacts CRM initiatives, (d) lessons improve implementation fishery policies, programs, plans for effective initiatives. Using focus group discussion, key informant interview observation methods, present investigation depictede that respondents are extremely aware interventions under Project such presence markers marine reserve fish sanctuary, watch tower, Fishery Law Enforcement Team/bantay dagat operations, patrol boat. Despite significant increase stock observed by respondents, no positive impact yet was felt fisherfolks terms catch income. Respondents, however, importance future benefits these ensuring sustainable other Ragay Gulf including ecosystem services it may offer communities.
